SUBSTANCE USE testing in colorado + psypact states
DR. MURPHY IS A PSYPACT® PROVIDER.
IF YOU LIVE IN A blue/purple-ish, STATE, DR. MURPHY CAN HELP YOU.
Dr. David Houston Murphy is a PSYPACT® provider. This means that if you live in a PSYPACT® state, then he can provide you with online therapy and online comprehensive psychological testing including ADHD testing, autism testing, substance use testing, mood disorder testing, personality testing, and intelligence testing.
PSYPACT® (Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) empowers licensed psychologists to provide telepsychology services across participating states without needing separate licenses for each state. PSYPACT® expands access to diagnoses and care for people who may not have local experts in comprehensive psychological evaluations.
my 7-step approach to ONLINE AND IN-PERSON SUBSTANCE USE testing IN 43 PSYPACT® STATES
Step 1. Initial Phone Call
We set up an initial 15-minute phone call to meet, see if it’s a good fit, and to answer any questions you might have.
Step 2. Intake Paperwork
I’ll email you some paperwork to complete such as basic intake information and release of information forms for collateral calls (later in the process), etc. You’ll have time to complete substance use screening questionnaires privately so that you can be as honest and accurate in your self-report. There is no stigma here.
Step 3. Intake Interview. a non-judgmental approach.
After you complete your Intake Paperwork (Step 2), we’ll meet online or in-person for 90 minutes to two hours to gather sufficient background information. As your psychologist, I’ll maintain a curious and non-judgmental demeanor throughout the evaluation. You’ll be asked open-ended, follow-up questions so that I might gain a complete picture.
Step 4. Rating Scales
I’ll email you links to online rating scales and screening tools to gather reliable data. You’ll spend some time on your own completing these.
Step 5. testing
You’ll come in person to my office for five to six hours of testing. There, I’ll administer a variety of assessments to explore substance use, cognitive abilities, intelligence, personality, neurodivergence, mood, and more. The hours for Step 5 are more abbreviated for online/telehealth evaluations.
Step 6. Collateral Calls + Report Writing
I’ll continue gathering a comprehensive history through collateral calls with others who know you. I’ll gather information that includes your substance use, pattern of use, treatment history, risk factors, and effects of use. I’ll also consider your past psychiatric, medical, social, and family history to move toward finalizing your comprehensive report.
Step 7. Comprehensive Report. YOU’LL BE INVOLVED.
Finally, my substance use evaluation and comprehensive psychological report will be a collaborative process. You’ll be involved as much or as little as you’d like. We’ll develop recommendations together, bearing in mind your goals and desires. This comprehensive report will include diagnoses, strengths, challenges, real-world impacts, and recommendations. I’ll deliver feedback to you in a 60-minute online or in-person session. I will answer questions, make any necessary edits on the rough draft of your comprehensive report, and typically, within five business days, send you a finalized report.
Substance use testing and substance use evaluations for adults and late adolescents (clients are at least 16 years old) are conducted as a part of a larger comprehensive psychological evaluation for each person. They are conducted in the safety and privacy of my Loveland, Colorado office and/or online via telehealth appointments. I follow best practices established by the National Institutes of Health and other leading agencies. Your substance use evaluation will provide you with the answers you need to move forward. As with all of my testing and evaluations, I follow a simple 7-step process:
$2,000 to $2,750 per comprehensive report
The price range depends on the level of assessment needed. Your finalized amount will be determined during Step 1, the initial phone call and communicated to you.
The total amount due will be split into two equal payments: 50% due at the start of the process and 50% due upon completion.
Dunamis LLC does not take insurance, but is able to provide a superbill at the end of testing, which you can present to your insurance provider in order to seek reimbursement.

He/Him/His
I have a National Parks obsession, I enjoy hiking 14ers (my wife calls me a mountain goat, or Bear), one of my first clients—a college student—gave me some of the best (and funniest) feedback I’ve received on my approach to therapy: “Duh,” she said, “it’s common sense.”
I enjoy psychological testing because I get to pull in the many facets of a person’s life to create a more complete picture of how their brain works. I found relief after my own experience of going through the testing process and receiving a neurodivergent diagnosis. It helped explain some of my own challenges, and gave me a better framework for understanding my strengths and the environments I needed in order to excel.
But enough about me. I want to know about you. What brought you here—to this website, to this point in life—what makes you tick, what brings you life, and how might I serve you?
